On Natural Birth...
The real question about safety is not whether you want a pleasant birth at home or a safe birth in the hospital ? It is, “Do you want to give birth at home and run the miniscule risk of an emergency that might (but not necessarily would) be handled better in the hospital, or do you want to give birth in the hospital and run the considerably increased risk of infection, the certainty of additional stress, and the near certainty of having unnecessary (and potentially risky interventions?”) ~ Henri Goer

Members of the home birth movement have chosen their alternative form of care not through faulty understanding of medical principles, but as a result of active and reasoned disagreement with them. ~ Bonnie O’Connor

Are ultrasounds safe?
The ultrasound waves are so damaging for the baby, it is useless to use and it is the patriarchal way of thinking that took over midwifery, it keeps the 26 billion dollar business going and lastly it interferes with your intuition and that of the babies as both are getting stressed out and it does not help assure a healthy birth, it just adds to more sections.

What are the signs that labor will start?

You have the right and the power to write your birth story as you want it to unfold.  You can  capture that power and work with it to unfold.

Contractions start gradually as they are releasing the hormone to begin labor. It is not something that happens in the first contraction, in reality the contractions can happen for weeks if not month ahead of time....then as you become closer to birthing...like when you are in early labor then they are little...short  like maybe 30 or 40 seconds and easy, make that easy and they are consistent. Even those may come and last a little hours and then slow down. There is the rare exception that you will just start with a minute contraction that leads into labor, but that is rare.

Another sign is the mucous changes, it does not look milky and sticky looking it looks like the egg white of a raw egg with some pink or dark blood streak in it (mucous plug is up higher in the cervix and when the cervix thins out then the plug can be released), and you poop a lot too, your body cleans out to make room for the baby coming through.

A series of questions on hemorrhoids, herpes
I'm pregnant with my second child. In the middle of 8th month I started getting awful pelvic pains and I developed hemorrhoids.

I want you to take extra calcium/magnesium 250 to 300 mg calcium 3 times a day with food, 1/2  as much magnesium and eat more green leafy veggies. get the sugar out of the diet and for dairy only eat your good yogurts. Check to see if you have varicosities too and also on the labia? you can see the distended veins running up the legs to labia?

There were times at night when I couldn't step on my feet and I needed support in order to walk.

You need to take several fifteen minutes sessions where you elevate your legs and butt throughout the day. get the blood out of there and circulating. you could also put a 2 by 4 board under the bottom two posts of your bed so that you have that going on throughout the night. You need to start binding your belly, supporting it with a muslin type cloth that wraps all around your womb. That is crucial as you probably have pulled the tendons too that support the muscle (uterus). So wrap yourself now, every day and 40 days after your birth. crucial...also take a warm bathe to relax your tendons too or use a hot water bottle on the places where it hurts.

What about my hemorrhoids? They don't retract.

After you take a bowel movement you need to elevate your legs and butt for 20 minutes. This is something that you will do for years. so get a good book, be grateful for the 20 minutes of reading that you will have. Also i want you to get hot rags on them, get them to go down and back inside. There are some herbs to take after you birth to help you...but right now use hot water.

When you birth your baby you will allow your baby to move through you. There will be no pushing at all. i want someone to hold a cold rag in your ass to support and also keep the hemorrhoids from coming out. it will be fine. Birth your baby in the lying on your side position. Put pillows on the side under your belly to support them and also between your legs. You can also have a warm rice bags to keep you warm and also relaxed. You can take a big long sock and fill it with either rock salt or rice and then sew it up. It can not be packed hard in the sock (or you can sew a bag) because it needs to have some flexibility so your body can mold into the bag. You can heat them up in the oven at 200 degrees or microwave it for two minutes. Make about five of them to use. you will love them.

I want a helper there with you in birth too, someone that can do the bags and rags for you, someone to adjust the pillows.

I have Genital Herpes. If I don't have an outbreak and blisters around the vagina but it is active at the moment of birth and I have an outbreak somewhere else /I get it on my thigh usually/, could this be a problem? Should I cover the blisters anyway even if they are away from the birth canal?

Why not cover them...easy enough to do. But it is easy to have the time to heal even if you have an outbreak and now that you are not nervous about all this you will be fine. If you get an outbreak as the baby to wait a few days so you can heal them quickly. There are many food to avoid during a herpes outbreak, peanuts, coffee, chocolate. Take extra vitamin C, a couple of grams a day, drink a lot of water, Eggs, potatoes and yogurt are good. Not too much salt.
