On Natural Birth...
The real question about safety is not whether you want a pleasant birth at home or a safe birth in the hospital ? It is, “Do you want to give birth at home and run the miniscule risk of an emergency that might (but not necessarily would) be handled better in the hospital, or do you want to give birth in the hospital and run the considerably increased risk of infection, the certainty of additional stress, and the near certainty of having unnecessary (and potentially risky interventions?”) ~ Henri Goer

Members of the home birth movement have chosen their alternative form of care not through faulty understanding of medical principles, but as a result of active and reasoned disagreement with them. ~ Bonnie O’Connor

How YOU Can Make a Difference

Be a Birth Activist Today!

There are many ways that all of us can help heal ourselves, take care of our families and ripple the effect of healing out through the world.

These educational activities are based on the healing ourselves and family first and then the community where we respect the local traditions of native peoples. Healthcare providers are joining parents and becoming aware of the effect that birth, circumcision, immunizations and separating mom and baby effects the well being of the child, impacting breastfeeding and bonding. These impacts reverberate through society. Whether your help is through speaking to others or with educational work, we not only welcome it, but need it to make the change that is so desperately needed. Join us.

In Hawai’i we formed Malama I Na Keiki (take care of the children). Our mission statement is “Malama I Na Keiki is a group that was formed to help educate healthcare workers and communities in Hawai'i about the importance of healthy birthing, intact children and the rebuilding of healthy communities. It is comprised of members of the local healthcare community as well as community members. Malama I Na Keiki works with worldwide organizations in the mission to preserve and protect children's natural wholeness of body, mind and spirit through the prevention of all forms of abuse.

Worldwide I am now helping other countries to adapt the Dutch Model of Midwifery to their countries. The cultural component of each country needs to be modified in order to effectively reach the people.

I believe if we all share how we are working, then collectively we will reach and help others and improve on our grassroots skills.
